Ordinary Cadet (OC) to Able Cadet (AC)

• minimum 5 months at preceding rank

Able Cadet (AC) to Leading Cadet (LC)

• Phase 1 qualified
• Valid Cadet Fitness Assessment (CFA) qualification

Leading Cadet (LC) to Master Cadet (MC)

• minimum 6 months at preceding rank
• Phase 2 qualified
• Valid CFA qualification

Master Cadet (MC) to Petty Officer Second Class (PO2)

• minimum 6 months at preceding rank
• Phase 3 qualified
• Achieved a minimum of completed without difficulty to PO 303 (leadership)
• Valid CFA qualification

Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) to Petty Officer First Class (PO1)

• minimum 6 months at preceding rank
• Phase 4 qualified
• Achieved a minimum of completed without difficulty to PO 403 (leadership)
• Valid CFA qualification

Petty Officer First Class (PO1) to Chief Petty Officer Second Class (CPO2)

• minimum 6 months at preceding rank
• Phase 5 qualified
• Must sit a Merit Review Board

Petty Officer Second Class (CPO2) to Chief Petty Officer First Class (CPO1)

• minimum 6 months at preceding rank
• Phase 5 qualified
• Must sit a Merit Review Board
• Must be a vacant position (only 1 per corps allowed)
